SSS Monday Challenge - Rainbows!

The theme for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is Rainbows, they are also focusing on Tim Holtz products, there is no better time to pull out my distress inks!
Using my Misit to ensure both panels were identical I stamped the WPlus9 Doodle Buds all over two pieces of Distress Water Color card stock and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.
I water colored each piece with distress inks, I used every color in the rainbow! Each panel was colored the same but I used a lot of concentrated ink for the main panel and used really diluted pale color for the second. I then used the My Favorite Things Happy Birthday Centerpieces die-namic to cut the the "Happy Birthday" from lighter panel.
Then I adhered the "Happpy Birthday" to the darker panel lining up the images so the design is seamless between the layers. I added a shadow to the letters with a Copic multi liner to help them pop a bit more.
I then added some sparkle with a Spectrum Nior Sparkle Pen, but only on the darker panel. Then I die cut the whole thing with the largest of the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Dies and added it to a bright yellow card base.
Thank you so much for taking a look!
I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is Happy Birthday!

MFT Sketch Challenge #362: Space Explorer

For the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #362 I decided to again pull out the Space Explorer set. It is so hard to stay away from this stamp set. I love making the galaxy backgrounds and coloring the space explorer lets me practice with my Copics, so this set is probably my current favorite.
I created the background with Distress Inks, spritzed on some water and splattered it with white paint flecks for stars. I cut a rounded panel to give the illusion of a planet and colored little circles on it make it look like it was covered in rock and craters and popped that up on the galaxy panel.
I colored the images with Copics and cut them out with the matching dies. I colored a piece of white twine with a gray Copic marker and attached it to the back of the space boy and the rocket. I popped the rocket up on foam dots and adhered the space boy to a mini action wobbler.
These action wobblers are new to me, they are so fun! I attached the other planets with double sided tape and white heat embossed the sentiment to finish off the card. I have the hardest time getting my card panels on straight, I almost always have something hanging off somewhere so please forgive the bits of white.
Thanks for taking a look!

Distress Ink Multi-Level Die Inlay!

For the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge we were asked to use more than one die or punch. I used two, the Simon Says Stamp Chevron Background die (I don't think they sell it anymore) and the Lil' Inker Hello die.

I used Distress ink and smooshing to create the main panel on Distress water color paper. I then used the chevron background die to cut the water color panel and some teal card stock.
I put the the teal card stock panel on my card base and then attached the water color panel on top. I then adhered the negative pieces in their places without the teal card stock under them so they are recessed from the rest of the image. If you try this with a die with a lot of similar shapes be sure to do a better job than I did keeping them straight. I spent way too much time trying to get them back where they went!
I cut the "hello" from the same teal card stock, added a bit of shimmer with my Wink of Stella pen and then adhered it on top.
Thanks for taking a look!

Ink Blending in Space!

This Birdie Brown Space Explorer stamp and die set from My Favorite Things might be my new go-to birthday set. I created the background with Distress Ink blending, spritzed it with water and added the "stars" with white paint splatters.
The images were colored with Copic markers, I added a bit of white gel pen for highlights on the space suit and some Wink of Stella glitter on the planets for some sparkle.  I popped all the images up on foam tape for dimension.
I used regular white sewing thread to make the planets look like birthday balloons and then white heat embossed the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by!

Succulents and Smooshing!

I used My Favorite Things Sweet Succulent stamps and dies to create this card. I colored the images with Copics and applied them with foam tape give them some dimension. The background is done on watercolor paper with Distress Inks using the "smooshing" technique.
I white heat embossed the sentiment on a black banner to make it pop. I think the sentiments from this set are really clever.
I cut down the water color panel, mounted it to black card base and added two strips of card stock for a little added interest.
